FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Senator Rod Whittemore Announces Local Projects in Maine DOT Work Plan
AUGUSTA – Senator Rod Whittemore (R-Somerset) has announced local transportation projects included in the Maine Department of Transportation Work Plan for Calendar Years 2017, 2018 and 2019. The estimated value of work in the plan totals more than $2.3 billion and encompasses 2,411 projects across the state.
The Work Plan includes everything from capital projects and programs to maintenance, operations projects and other activities.
The projects and activities listed for Calendar Year 2017 are more firmly funded and have definite schedules, while listings for 2018 and 2019 are more subject to change based on funding and prices, permitting variables, and seasonal weather conditions. There are more than 1,200 projects scheduled for 2017.
Among the projects scheduled in Senate District 3 include bridge replacements in Anson and Embden, bridge maintenance in Bingham and Canaan, road repair on Route 43 in Cornville, upgrades at Newton Field Airport in Jackman, drainage maintenance in Moscow, safety and infrastructure upgrades at Central Maine Regional Airport in Norridgewock, a park and ride facility in Skowhegan and a recreational trail in the Forks Plantation and West Forks Plantation.
“It is encouraging to hear about this much-needed work infrastructure work around Somerset County,” Senator Whittemore said. “Safe travel along our roads, bridges and at our airports should always be a top priority and I look forward to seeing the progress on these projects.”
The full work plan, including an interactive plan that is searchable by municipality, can be accessed on the Maine Department of Transportation’s website at: http://www.maine.gov/mdot.
