Virtual Information Session for Veterans on Education

Typically, VA benefits are far more comprehensive for those attending classes in-person, including the provision of housing allowances. Recent Congressional action allows classes that are moved online due to the pandemic to be treated the same as in-person classes for the purposes of calculating VA benefits. This is in effect through December but there are still many uncertainties for Veterans and their families.

To address these changes and answer questions, there will be a virtual information session and discussion this Thursday, April 9 from 11 a.m. to noon.

The primary audience is Maine Veterans and their dependents who may be using their Veteran-parents’ benefits.

Representatives from the Maine State Approving Agency for Veterans Education Programs (housed within the University of Maine System), Veterans Upward Bound, and the Maine National Guard will lead the session. This is being co-hosted by those organizations as well as the Maine Bureau of Veterans’ Services and University of Southern Maine—Veterans Services.
