Senator Brian Langley Congratulates Dr. Hasson on Nomination

AUGUSTA – On Thursday, March 16, the governor announced his nomination of Dr. Robert G. Hasson, Jr. of South Portland to serve as the next Commissioner of Education. Dr. Hasson has served in the role of Acting Commissioner since November of last year.

“Dr. Hasson is committed to putting our students first and working to find new ways to serve our disadvantaged youth with a goal of preparing them for lifetime success,” said Senator Brian Langley (R-Hancock), Chair of the Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs. “As a former teacher, principal and superintendent, he has the knowledge and expertise that only comes with decades of experience; I am confident that he will serve our state well.”

The Committee on Education and Cultural Affairs will hold a confirmation hearing for Dr. Hasson within the next 30 days.
