Sen. Matt Harrington is serving his first term in the Maine State Senate representing the people of Senate District 33. The newly reapportioned district includes the municipalities of Alfred, Lebanon, Sanford and Waterboro.
Prior to his service in the Senate, Sen. Harrington represented the people of District 19 for four terms in the Maine House of Representatives. While there, he served on the State and Local Government Committee; Innovation, Development, Economic Advancement and Business Committee; Government Oversight Committee; and more recently on the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee.
A 15-year veteran of law enforcement, Sen. Harrington is currently a patrol officer for the Kennebunk Police Department. He is a graduate of Southern Maine Community College and earned his bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of Southern Maine.
Active in his community, Sen. Harrington serves as a board member for the Sanford Mainers, a New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) team. He is also a Freemason and Shriner with the Kora Temple, a member of the Sanford Elks Club and Maine Association of Police, and is a former member of his church’s board of trustees.
A fourth-generation Mainer, he lives with his wife, Lauren, in Sanford along with their two dogs Bailey and Bullet. Sen. Harrington enjoys golf, fishing and spending time with family.
