Jeff McCabe, Dana Doran, Senator Paul Davis, Congressman Bruce Poliquin
AUGUSTA – The Professional Logging Contractors of Maine awarded Senator Paul Davis (R-Piscatiquis) with an Impact Award at their annual meeting in Brewer on Friday, May 5.
Each year, Professional Logging Contractors of Maine recognizes an individual from the private sector for making a significant impact on the logging industry in Maine. Sen. Davis received the award for his exceptional support to the industry during the last legislative session, providing leadership that resulted in the passage of a bill exempting off road diesel for logging operations from being taxed, effective this year. Sen. Davis also supported LD 1676, the biomass subsidy bill.
“It was truly an honor to receive this award for the work that was accomplished to benefit the logging industry last session,” said Sen. Davis. “Loggers have been the backbone of rural Maine’s economy for generations. It’s important that we do everything we can to help them compete and be successful.”
Congressman Bruce Poliquin and Jeff McCabe of Skowhegan were also recognized with Impact Awards. While Professional Logging Contractors of Maine typically awards one individual earch year, they felt that all three of these individuals deserved recognition this year for demonstrating a commitment to the industry.
