FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sen. Bill Diamond (D-Cumberland), Sen. Kimberley Rosen (R-Hancock)
AUGUSTA – On Monday, December 4, Senator Kimberley Rosen (R-Hancock) participated in a ceremony at the Maine State Museum to unveil the new bicentennial license plate designed to celebrate Maine’s 200th anniversary in 2020 along with Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap and other officials and members of the Maine Bicentennial Commission.
The new $25 plates may be displayed either in lieu of the front plate or on the back window from January 1, 2018 until December 31, 2020. Bicentennial plates are now available for purchase from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles by mail or at the 13 branch offices around the state; they will also be available online beginning on December 15. Proceeds from plate sales will go towards a celebration of the 200th anniversary of Maine’s independence from Massachusetts.
“Cultural organizations across the state are planning creative ways to acknowledge and celebrate the 200th Anniversary of Maine statehood,” said Sen. Kim Rosen. “This commemorative license plate is a great way to display our pride as Mainers.”
