Statement by Senate Majority Leader Garrett Mason on FGM:

“I had the opportunity today to testify in support of LD 1819, “An Act Prohibiting Female Genital Mutilation,” as a co-sponsor. This bill, which was very important to my mother, is a no-brainer. As a state, we need to do everything we can to protect young children from this barbaric act on our soil. It is child abuse, plain and simple.”
