FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
KEZAR FALLS – The American Legion of Maine has named Senator Ron Collins (R-York) as the organization’s Legislator of the Year.
The Legion made its decision based on Collins’ advocacy for Maine veterans, particularly ensuring area veterans are receiving the benefits and services for which they are eligible.
“This award is very meaningful to me,” Senator Collins said. “I have always had the deepest respect for the men and women of our military who wear the uniform and have made countless sacrifices to secure the freedoms that we all too often take for granted.”
The American Legion is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization and is committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to fellow service members and veterans.
Senator Ron Collins is serving his fourth term in the Maine Senate and is prevented from seeking reelection due to term limits. He is the chair of the Legislature’s Transportation Committee and also serves on the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee.
