FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUGUSTA – Senate President Michael Thibodeau (R-Waldo) has appointed Senator Amy Volk (R-Cumberland) to the Maine Children’s Growth Council and the Child Care Advisory Council, effective immediately.
Maine Children’s Growth Council is a bipartisan council established by statute that is made up of 37 members. These members, including legislators, community members and government officials, are tasked with developing, maintaining and evaluating a plan to make sure we are investing both financially and socially in the development of young children and families in Maine.
The Child Care Advisory Council is also a bipartisan council established by statute that is made up of 28 members. These members, including legislators, community members and government officials, are tasked with advising the Legislature and the Department of Health and Human Services on issues regarding child care services in Maine in order to encourage coordinated policies that promote quality, uniformity and efficiency.
“As a proud mother of four, I am pleased to have been appointed to serve on these important committees for the remainder of my term in the Legislature as a representative from the Senate,” said Sen. Volk. “Children are our most precious resource, as they are our future. I look forward to working with my colleagues on these committees to advise on policies that will best support them and encourage success during their early, most critical years.”
