ABBOT VILLAGE – Senator Paul Davis (R-Piscataquis) recently presented a special legislative sentiment to Victor Morin, Cheryl Morin of the JD Foundation.

The JD Foundation, of Abbot, Maine, teaches suicide awareness, provides prevention programs to more than a thousand students and holds more than 65 suicide awareness workshops.  The foundation believes that depression and mental illness are treatable and that no family should have to lose a loved one due to a lack of education.

Senator Davis said, “It is good to see the people who are doing this important work get the recognition that they deserve. We lose far too many Mainers to suicide, and I believe awareness of depression and mental illness goes a long way toward prevention. The JD Foundation has helped raise the bar in suicide prevention, and I applaud them for their efforts.”
