AUGUSTA –State Senator Tom Saviello (R-Franklin) and Representative Russell Black (R-Wilton) have announced the local transportation projects included in the Maine Department of Transportation Work Plan for Calendar Years 2018, 2019 and 2020. The estimated value of work in the plan totals more than $2.3 billion and encompasses 2,262 projects across the state.
The Work Plan includes more than $1.4 billion in highway, bridge and multimodal capital work, more than $1.1 billion in highway and bridge projects and more than $296 million in multimodal capital projects.
Among the projects scheduled in Senate District 17 include bridge replacement on Route 133 in Farmington, highway paving on Rt. 4 in Jay, bridge replacement on Rt. 4 in Madrid Twp and aviation construction at the Steven A. Bean Municipal Airport in Rangeley.
Senator Saviello said, “Rural Maine needs to have reliable roads, bridges and airports to stay connected, and these projects will help achieve that.”
“These projects are vital to not only our safety, but also our economic success,” said Rep. Black. “I am encouraged to see all of the projects MDOT has planned for the next three years in Franklin and Kennebec counties.”
