Rep. Bruce Bickford, Rep. Ellie Espling and Sen. Eric Brakey with Edward Little girls and boys basketball teams in Maine House of Representatives

AUGUSTA – The Edward Little girls and boys basketball teams were recognized in the Maine Senate on Tuesday, March 27 by their state senator, Eric Brakey (R-Androscoggin), with legislative sentiments honoring their recent Class AA state championship victories.

During their visit the team also met with Representative Ellie Espling (R-New Gloucester) and Representative Bruce Bickford (R-Auburn).

This was the Red Eddies boys team’s first basketball state title in 72 years and the Red Eddies girls team’s first ever state championship.

“I was glad to have both teams join us in Augusta today,” said Sen. Brakey. “Winning a championship requires a lot of hard work and dedication. I’m proud to represent not one, but two teams that have what it takes to be champions. This basketball season is one that will be remembered for years to come.”
