FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sen. Jeff Timberlake, Angelo Terreri, Rep. Josh Morris
AUGUSTA – Angelo Terreri, owner of Coach Terry’s Redemption Center in Turner, traveled to Augusta on Wednesday, February 27 to testify before the Legislature’s Environment and Natural Resources’s Committee in support of LD 360, “An Act To Increase the Reimbursement to Bottle Redemption Centers.”
The bill, sponsored by Terreri’s state senator, Jeff Timberlake (R-Androscoggin), would help bottle redemption centers keep pace with the recent minimum wage increases.
“Bottle redemption centers provide an important service for our state by helping keep our roadways and transfer stations free of recyclable bottles,” Timberlake said. “Under the new minimum wage law, these businesses have seen their labor costs shoot through the roof. Since their refund rates are set by statute, they are less able to respond to these cost increases than other businesses. For that reason, I believe it is time for the Legislature to investigate how we can best help the redemption centers that have managed to \ stay afloat.”
During his visit, Terreri met with Senator Timberlake and Representative Josh Morris (R-Turner).
