Maine Government Summer Internship Program Now Accepting Applications

Senator Roger Katz urges interested students to apply

AUGUSTA- The Maine Government Summer Internship Program is accepting applications for the summer of 2017 through March 1 for students enrolled in a Maine college, or students from Maine enrolled elsewhere. The internship provides an opportunity for students to spend 12 weeks in full-time, paid positions in Maine state, local or county government positions.

State Senator Roger Katz (R-Kennebec), would like to encourage students interested in a career in civil service or public policy to apply. “The Maine Government Summer Internship Program is a terrific opportunity for young Mainers to spend the summer gaining valuable experience and making important connections to build their resumes,” said Sen. Katz. “Previous interns have worked on a wide array of projects, including the publication of “On the Money – A Young Person’s Guide to Personal Finance,” which was co-authored by a previous summer intern and put out by Maine’s Bureau of Consumer Credit Protection.”

The Maine Government Summer Internship Program was established by the legislature in 1967 and is administered by the Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center, located at the University of Maine, in collaboration with the Office of the Governor, the Maine Bureau of Human Resources, numerous state agencies and local governments.
