AUGUSTA – On Tuesday, February 14, 2017 Bonny Eagle’s girls cross country and football teams traveled to Augusta for recognition of their Class A state championships last November.
During their visit, the teams joined Governor LePage for breakfast in the Blaine House before being honored before both the Senate and House bodies during session.
Sen. Amy Volk (R-Cumberland) joined other area lawmakers in presenting the teams with Legislative Sentiments, recognizing the Bonny Eagle girls cross-country team for their second straight Class A championship and the Bonny Eagle football team for their Class A state football championship last November.
“It was great to see both of Bonny Eagle’s Class A championship-winning teams receive such a warm welcome and heartfelt recognition during their visit to Augusta today,” said Sen. Volk. “I am tremendously proud of the accomplishments these students were able to achieve. The girls cross country team has participated in the Class A championship match four out of the past five years, and this is the football team’s sixth title under Coach Kevin Cooper over the last 13 years.”
