Senator Garrett Mason Presents Bill On Behalf of Area Business
Asks Legislature to allow disc golf facilities to serve alcohol on the course
AUGUSTA – On Friday, February 17, Senator Garrett Mason (R-Androscoggin) presented a bill before the Legislature’s Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee, at the request of Sabattus Disc Golf, that would grant disc golf facilities the same economic opportunities as traditional golf courses and ski resorts.
If passed, LD 304, “An Act To Authorize Auxiliary Licenses at Disc Golf Courses,” would permit disc golf courses to obtain a license to serve alcoholic beverages to customers on the course while they play the game.
“The decision to sponsor this legislation was an easy one for me,” Sen. Mason said. “It’s long been established that golf courses and ski areas can obtain a license to have a beverage cart or snack bar on the course to offer players refreshments while they play so they don’t need to break from the activity. It only makes sense that we allow disc golf courses the same opportunity.”
Also testifying in favor of the bill was Peter Ruby, owner of Sabattus Disc Golf.
