Marijuana Implementation Committee Seeks Public Comment

The committee charged with implementing the legalization of marijuana in Maine will be taking public comment on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Augusta to gather citizen input on the issues facing the Legislature and regulators.

“We want to hear from stakeholders and members of the public on a wide range of questions including how to best protect public safety, how to regulate growers, producers and sellers, how to tax the substance, how the law will affect the workplace and more,” said Senator Roger Katz (R-Kennebec), Senate Chair of the new Marijuana Legalization Implementation (MLI) Committee.

“Now that the referendum to legalize marijuana in Maine has passed, the goal of the Joint Select Committee and the entire Legislature is to make sure we implement its legalization in the most responsible manner possible; hearing from stakeholders is one of the first steps in this important process,” said Representative Teresa Pierce (D-Falmouth), House Chair of the MLI Committee.

The forum will take place in Room 216 of the Cross Office Building beginning at 1:00 p.m.
