AUGUSTA – On Thursday, March 30, John Murphy of Scarborough was honored before the Maine House and Senate for his retirement after 44 years of service, including service over the last 25 years as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Maine Credit Union League. In this position, John worked on behalf of Maine’s credit unions and their members to strengthen the credit union movement in Maine.

“It was a privilege to recognize Mr. Murphy for his great accomplishments with my fellow colleagues in the Senate,” said Senator Amy Volk (R-Cumberland). “Under his supervision, credit union membership has grown to 685,000. He was also involved with implementing initiatives that are important to Maine communities including the Campaign for Ending Hunger and the SurF Network program to promote financial literacy.”
