FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUGUSTA – Senate President Michael Thibodeau (R-Waldo) has reappointed Senator James Hamper (R-Oxford) to serve a two-year term representing Maine on the National Conference of State Legislatures’ (NCSL) Budgets & Revenue Committee.

“I look forward to continuing to serve on this important committee,” said Sen. Hamper. “NCSL is a tremendous organization that gives legislators the opportunity to hear what other states are doing in order to learn from the mistakes and successes of others.”

NCSL is a national bipartisan organization based out of Washington, D.C. with a mission to improve the quality and effectiveness of state legislatures by providing legislators and staff with tools, resources and information to craft sound policy. They also promote innovation and communication between state legislatures to ensure the states maintain a strong, cohesive voice in the federal system.

The Budgets & Revenue Committee is one of nine bipartisan policy committees that will meet on a semiannual basis each year in Washington, D.C. and at the NCSL Legislative Summit. This year’s annual summit will be held in Boston.

Senate President Thibodeau said, “Senator Hamper brings a wealth of experience to this committee through his work as chair of the Maine Legislature’s Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee. I cannot think of a better candidate for this appointment.”
