Sen Maker with Homer Woodward and Adam West
AUGUSTA – On Thursday, April 20, Senator Maker welcomed representatives of Wyman’s of Maine, headquartered in Milbridge with facilities in Cherryfield, Deblois and on Prince Edward Island, to the State House to receive a Legislative Sentiment recognizing Wyman’s of Maine for receiving a 2016 Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence. Homer Woodward, Vice President of Operations, and Adam West, the Manufacturing Manager, represented the company.

“Wyman’s has set a high priority on sustainable agriculture and on environmental stewardship,” said Sen. Maker. “They were chosen to receive this prestigious award by the Governor’s office because they have made a conscious effort over the last several years to evaluate and reduce their energy and water use, and to limit their pollutant discharges to the Narraguagus River.

“Additionally, internal facility practices, system upgrades and system changes were made throughout Wyman’s processing system to limit water use and reduce or eliminate solids discharge.

“Their commitment to sustainable practices and environmental excellence, I believe, has played a key role in their success.

“We have some great businesses in Maine and Wyman’s is certainly one of them. I’m so glad Homer and Adam were able to join us all the way from Washington County. Congratulations to them on this terrific achievement!”
