FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUGUSTA – Senator Marianne Moore (R-Washington) has been appointed to serve as one of two Maine senators on the New England and Eastern Canada Legislative Commission (the Commission). Established in 1977 by statute, the Commission was created by the Legislature to strengthen regional cooperation between the Maine Legislature and the legislative bodies of each neighboring Canadian province.

“It’s an honor to be appointed to this important commission,” said Sen. Moore. “As a resident of eastern Washington County, I know just how important it is to have open lines of dialogue with our neighbors to the north. Our economies, our history and our cultures are closely connected and it’s in both of our best interest to work together for the betterment of our region.”
