FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUGUSTA – Senator Matt Pouliot (R-Kennebec), the sponsor of LD 1389, “An Act To Address Transparency, Accountability and Oversight of Pharmacy Benefit Managers”, invites constituents to join him for a discussion with AARP Maine about the high cost of prescription drugs in Maine, and what lawmakers are doing to combat them.

Who: AARP Maine, Sen. Matt Pouliot, Rep. Justin Fecteau
What: Discussion about the high cost of prescription drugs
When: Thursday, April 25, 5:00-6:30 pm
Where: Lithgow Public Library, 45 Winthrop Street, Augusta, ME 04330

“The high cost of prescription drug impacts many Maine families, which is why I have sponsored a bill to bring some accountability and oversight to pharmacy benefits managers,” said Pouliot. “Pharmacy benefit managers contract with health care plans to administer prescription drug benefits, and often times, their practices benefit insurance companies with no savings passed on to consumers. I think it’s time for lawmakers to take a closer look at this practice so Maine families can better afford the medications they need to live full, healthy lives.”
