(Augusta) – Senate Republican Leader Dana Dow (R-Lincoln) has been appointed to serve on an eleven member commission to study children’s mental health in Maine.
The Commission is charged with studying the mental health of children in Maine and particularly federal and state laws, regulations, rules and policies governing the diagnosis and treatment of children with mental health issues in the state.
Senator Dow: “It has been a particular focus of mine in the legislature to monitor and assess state government’s treatment of our most vulnerable citizens. It is my hope that this Commission will explore and recommend ways that Maine can address the issue of mental health among children in the most effective way possible.”
The Commission has until December 4 to submit a report with its findings and recommendations, including suggested legislation, for presentation to the Second Regular Session of the 129th Legislature in January.
