(AUGUSTA, ME) – With little more than two weeks before Memorial Day and the unofficial opening of tourism season in Maine, the announcement by Governor Mills that she is lifting many of the remaining COVID-related restrictions is welcome and timely news.
The message sent by the Governor’s actions to potential visitors offers hope that the struggles and difficulties of last summer will be limited to a single season and that Maine is once again fully open for business.
With employers struggling to find workers in the midst of a major labor shortage statewide, we clearly still have work to do in support of small businesses, but the Governor’s actions today will provide much needed hope and a more welcoming environment in a state that relies so heavily on the tens of millions of visitors who come to enjoy Maine each summer.
