FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUGUSTA – On Thursday, April 6th, Senator Joyce Maker (R-Washington) welcomed the Shead High School Girls Basketball Team from Eastport to the State House in Augusta.
During their visit, Sen. Maker and Rep. William Tuell (R-East Machias) presented the team with a Legislative Sentiment recognizing their achievement of winning the Class D North Championship.
“It is an honor for me to recognize the Tigerettes of Shead High School on their Class D North Championship win,” said Sen. Maker. “The team had a terrific season, earning their second straight Class D regional title.
“The regional title game was very competitive and exciting to watch. The Tigerettes had to overcome a deficit going into the second half, but were able to come out on top with a 32-29 win, following Holly Preston’s steal of an inbounds pass.
“We really have some very talented young people in Washington County and I’m glad this group joined us so they could be recognized and see how very proud of them we are.”
Members of the team include Holly Preston, Kiesha Scott, Audrey Bradbury, Justine Cheney, Roxanna McGregor, Cassidee Lawrence, Madison Greenlaw, Katelyn Mitchell, Halle Sullivan and Cassidy Wilder; managers Alexis Moore and Felicia Smith; assistant coach Dana Bowen; and head coach Dean Preston.
