FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUGUSTA- The Senate Republican Caucus today elected Senator Amy Volk (R-Cumberland) to serve as their Assistant Leader. Senator Volk is currently in her second term in the Maine Senate, representing District 30. She has also served two terms in the Maine House of Representatives.
“I am truly humbled to have been selected by my peers, to serve in leadership,” said Sen. Volk. “Throughout my years, in both the House and the Senate, these people have become like family to me. As their leader, I am committed to serving them in a manner that is both responsive and respectful and I very much look forward to helping usher in a new ‘class’ of Senate Republicans as many members of our caucus finish out their final term in office.”
“Since I first met Senator Volk back in 2010, she has continued to impress me,” said Senate Majority Leader Garrett Mason (R-Androscoggin). “As we have served together, I’ve watched her grow into a true leader, gaining the respect of members on both sides of the aisle. I have no doubt that she will excel in her new role as Assistant and I very much look forward to serving beside her in leadership.”
“Senator Volk has impressed me since she first joined the Maine Senate, both in her ability to listen and to lead. As chair of the challenging Labor, Commerce, Research and Economic Development Committee, she led the way in restoring the tip credit and numerous other efforts to help Maine’s small businesses,” said Senate President Michael Thibodeau (R-Waldo). “She has also been a tireless advocate for victims of human trafficking.
“I am certain Amy will be effective in a leadership role and I look forward to working with her.”
