AUGUSTA – Senator Matt Pouliot (R-Kennebec) has been appointed to serve on the Maine Legislature’s Taxation Committee and Education and Cultural Affairs Committee during the 129th Legislature.

Senator Pouliot is currently serving his first term in the Maine Senate after serving three terms representing District 86 in the Maine House of Representatives. During his time in the House, Pouliot served on both committees.

The Education and Cultural Affairs Committee oversees the Department of Education, the Maine Arts Commission, Maine State Library, Maine State Museum and Maine Public Broadcasting Corporation.

The Taxation Committee is responsible for Maine’s tax structure as well as overseeing the Maine Residents Property Tax Program, property valuation and assessment, municipal revenue sharing and other tax issues.

“I am honored to serve on these two important committees,” said Pouliot. “For a number of years, we have worked hard in Augusta to reduce our tax burden and bring Maine more in line with our region. We’ve also made record investments in our education system. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to continue prioritizing Maine students and making Maine more competitive for businesses and families looking to stay or relocate.”

Senator Pouliot represents District 15 which includes Augusta, China, Oakland, Sidney and Vassalboro.
